Online I'm known as **BobTheShoplifter**, where I share security tricks and expose scams for [130,000+ followers on TikTok](https://www.tiktok.com/@bobtheshoplifter). By day I work as an **ethical hacker**: I break into things legally, so the people who own them can close the holes before anyone else does. On the side I give **talks** and turn up in the media when a new scam rolls across the country. There are two things I try to avoid when I speak: scaring people, and talking down to them. At **17** I found [serious flaws in a string of Norwegian web shops](https://www.digi.no/artikler/17-aringer-har-funnet-alvorlige-feil-i-en-rekke-norske-nettbutikker/475908), including when a friend and I tested [AtB's online store](https://www.adressa.no/pluss/nyheter/2019/10/16/Ole-og-Daniel-17-skulle-teste-nettbutikken-til-AtB.-Da-gikk-plutselig-nettsiden-ned-20164647.ece) and the site suddenly went down. I reported it, of course; that's rather the whole point of ethical hacking. > “I've had plenty of chances to get rich the wrong way. I chose the other road.” Over time I started sharing what I found on TikTok, and the account snowballed. I wanted to represent the young hackers out there, and show that the same tricks can be used to help instead of to cheat. --- ## What I do now Most of my time goes to **security**: I test systems, expose scams, and explain what people can actually do about it. One of the better-known moments was when I [**hacked Telenor**](https://www.nrk.no/osloogviken/daniel-christensen-fikk-tilbud-om-jobb-etter-a-ha-hacket-telenor-1.15839760) and ended up with a job offer instead of trouble, which became the video series [*Hacked med Daniel*](https://www.telenor.no/sikkerhet/hacked-med-daniel/). I also spend a lot of time calling out bad actors: subscription traps like [Utstyrshoppen](https://www.digi.no/artikler/slik-kommer-du-deg-ut-av-abonnementet-hos-utstyrshoppen/513391) and [Stayclassy](https://www.digi.no/artikler/norsk-nettbutikk-tatt-med-buksene-nede-de-rundlurer-kundene/503501), [travel scams](https://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/skummel-reisesvindel/81632657), and companies that rip off their customers. When something big happens in Norwegian security, I'm sometimes the one the media calls. --- ## When I speak publicly I give [talks on digital security](https://danielchristensen.no/en/talks) for schools, companies and conferences. The content is tailored to the room, a ninth-grade class gets different examples than the leadership team at a construction firm. No slides without a reason. No jargon I don't explain. If the audience can't retell the main point to a colleague the next day, I've done a bad job. --- ## When I'm not working When I'm not working, my time goes to side projects, coding, and figuring out how things really work, preferably things that weren't meant to be figured out.
